Neville Goddard Lectures: “Judas Betrays Messianic Secret”
05 Nov Neville Goddard Lectures: “Judas Betrays Messianic Secret”
9/29/69
Tonight we will play the part of Judas. What was it that Judas betrayed? Judas betrayed the Messianic secret and the place where Jesus might be found…a most important role in the great mystery of God. “I have found in David the son of Jesse a man after my heart, who will do all my will. Of this man’s posterity God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus, as he promised” (Acts13:22). If God brought to Israel a Savior as he promised, who do you think he brought? Now listen to these words from the 43rd chapter of Isaiah: “I, I am the Lord… and besides me there is no Savior” (43:11). So if God brought a Savior to humanity, he brought himself. Now he names himself as Jesus. The word Jesus simply means “I am.” In all the great I AM statements—“I am the vine, I am the door, I am the shepherd, I am the bread”—he’s declaring, “Unless you believe that I am (is) he, you die in your sins” (Jn.8:24). Man must believe that “I am” is the Lord. So he’s brought to Israel—“the man who will rule as God”—a Savior, Jesus, as he promised.
Now, when you say “I am” you don’t think that is Jesus, do you? You hear the word “Jesus” and you think of someone outside of yourself. But no, when your say “I am” that is Jesus, but sound asleep and buried in you. One day he will awaken, and when he awakens within you instead of being the son of God you will be God the Father. That is the transformation that is for you, for you ventured into this world of death. You and I came down into the world of death and took upon ourselves these garments that die. They get old and they wither and they die, and continue dying, and everything dies. Yet God is the conqueror. But he sends his sons into the world and when the sons conquer by the power of the Father, they return as the Father. So, “Beloved, we are now the sons of God; it does not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, and see him as he is” (1Jn.3:2). It does not yet appear, for I’m a son of God. But how when God appears I will know him? I will know him because I will be just like him.
And now he reveals the great secret to the entire world, the great Messianic secret: when we use the word Jesus Christ, begin to separate it. As you’re told in the very end of the Bible, “Come, Lord Jesus…and his Christ” (Rev.22:20; 11:15). Christ is the Messiah. Christ is the great Son who reveals you as God the Father…and that Son is David…whether you ever heard it before or not. I cannot resist the power that tells me to tell it and tell it and tell it, for man has completely forgotten the mystery, and they’re telling all kinds of things that are not related to this mystery. They speak of Jesus as a little man who was born and who lived 2,000 years ago, when Jesus became humanity, which is God himself. You say “I am,” well, that’s God and that’s Jesus. But he’s God the Father and that’s the great secret of the Christian faith: to reveal the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man. Well, the fatherhood of God is Jesus in man: “Do you not realize that Jesus”—yes and his Christ—“is in you?” (2Cor.13:5). And did not the Christ call him Father? Did not David call him the Lord?
This is a mystery. If David were not in me then I would never know that I am God the Father. One day he comes out of me and stands before me, and I know exactly who he is even before he calls me Father. I know the relationship: and only then do I know that I am God the Father. But I also know that everyone in the world will one day have the identical experience, and there is only one God, one Father; therefore, we all are the one Father. We are members of a body which shares in this wonderful promised end of all things—everything resolves itself into the one, and that one is God the Father.
